Child abusers still protected by Belgian government

The world is full of hypocrites

On the one hand they say they fight child abuse.
On the other hand they do everything to protect their friends...

Belgian justice and politicians have decided to prosecute and lock up activist Marcel Vervloesem again. More than 10 years ago, Marcel Vervloesem revealed the Zandvoort child porn case.

As happened in 1998, the complaint against Vervloesem was organized by his half-brother Victor and was combined with a campaign of terror and death threats against his daughter and his 15 -year-old granddaughter. That lasted for months.

The authorities closed at the same time all the blogs of the Group Morkhoven for months
It was a combined and very well-planned action.

The complaints of Marcel Vervloesem and his daughter which was even the victim of an attempted assassination, were never investigated.

The Group Morkhoven has the impression that Prime Minister Di Rupo, the Interior Minister J. Milquet and Justice Minister A. Turtelboom are blocking the investigation.

The police and judiciary inspections did nothing.

Some days ago, Jan Boeykens, president of the Morkhoven Group, wrote Minister Milquet and the chief of the Federal Police: they don't answer.

Marcel Vervloesem is banned since 2006 to talk the press which was covering up the Zandvoort case but some journalists have still some questions.

He is still banned to see the other members of the direction board od the Morkhoven Group who visited him during two years,  every week, in prison.
He can not work for organizations combating child abuse and should not travel abroad.

Over 130 days, there are elections in Belgium and the Morkhoven Group decided to start long-term actions again.

White House: Syria crosses 'red line' with use of chemical weapons

Photo: Vietnamese victims of American chemical warfare (Agent Orange, Monsanto)

Some 12 million gallons of Agent Orange were sprayed over South Vietnam at up to 50 times the concentration recommended for killing weeds. About 5 million acres of forests and crops were destroyed and an estimated 4.5 million Vietnamese and hundreds of thousands of American soldiers were exposed.

Millions of Americans and Vietnamese are still affected, directly and indirectly, by the wartime spraying of Agent Orange and other herbicides over South Vietnam. As U.S. Vietnam-era veterans know, some of the herbicides contained dioxin, a highly toxic and persistent organic pollutant linked to cancers, diabetes, birth defects and other disabilities.

The toll on the Vietnamese may continue for generations, even though the dioxin contaminant may eventually be 'cleansed'.

Cambodia and Laos were also sprayed.

'Syria Has Used Chemical Weapons, Israel Says'

Gaza 2009 - Victim of Israel's use of white fosfor bombs

23 October 2006: The Israeli government has admitted that it used controversial phosphorus weapons in its attacks against targets during its month long war in Lebanon this summer.
The chemical can be used in shells, missiles and grenades and causes horrific burning when it comes into contact with human flesh. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2006/oct/23/israel

White phosphorus is a material made from a common allotrope of the chemical element phosphorus that is used in smoke, tracer, illumination and incendiary munitions. Other common names include WP, and the slang term "Willie Pete," which is dated from its use in Vietnam, and is still sometimes used in military jargon. As an incendiary weapon, white phosphorus burns fiercely and can set cloth, fuel, ammunition and other combustibles on fire, and cause serious burns or death.

Human rights violations Belgium: U.S. Department of State

U.S. Department of State

Belgium Country Report on Human Rights Practices for 1997

In January 1998, the American government submits a report on the Belgian situation of children’s  rights who establishes that the country is both a transit point and destination for trafficking of children, who also recognises the prostitution of children. This joins the opinion of Marc Verwilghen, former president of the Dutroux commission, ex-minister of the justice and who writes on 15/10/1996  to the president of Werkgroep Morkhoven: “the events of these last weeks do not leave any doubt of the reality of the pedo- pornographic and the prostitution of children in Belgium.”

The document already foresees that the Dutroux lawsuit will not start before second half of 1998. Yet, it will only begin on the second quarter 2004, according to Marc Dutroux: due to the fact that he was just childen’s provider for a certain elite of politicians, judges and police officers.

Belgium has comprehensive child protection laws, which the Government seeks to enforce. The Francophone and Flemish communities have agencies dealing with children’s needs. Government and private groups provide shelters for runaways and counseling for children who have been physically or sexually abused. The Government provides compulsory education up to the age of 18.

In 1995 the Government enacted laws designed to combat child pornography by increasing penalties for such crimes and for those in possession of pedophilic materials. The law permits prosecution of Belgians who commit such crimes abroad. Another 1995 law provides that criminals convicted of the sexual abuse of children cannot receive parole without first receiving specialized assistance and must continue counseling and treatment upon their release from prison.

Belgium is both a transit point and destination for trafficking in women and children. In the first half of 1997, 120 children from 37 different countries were trafficked in the country, the largest number from Romania (21).

In 1996 the authorities uncovered a pedophile/child pornography and trafficking ring. The criminal investigation of this ring continued through 1997. Five suspects remained in detention; however, their trial was unlikely to begin before mid-1998.

A parliamentary commission continued to investigate allegations of corruption and complicity in the law enforcement and judicial system. By December no judicial or police officers had been imprisoned or sanctioned for collusion related to the pedophile case.

In response to the public outcry over the handling of the pedophile case, the Government established a center for missing and exploited children. The Prime Minister appointed the center’s president and board of directors in May, and the center opened in December.

Children have the right to a voice in court cases that affect them, such as divorce proceedings. The law states that a minor “capable of understanding” can request permission to be heard by a judge, or a judge can request an interview with a child.

Child prostitution is of limited scope, but, in response to recommendations made in a 1994 government study, police have received instructions to be especially diligent in combating prostitution among those who appear to be under the age of 18.

There is no societal pattern of abuse directed against children.

Childporn rings: Marcel Vervloesem in prison again

palais-de-justice-de-paris.jpgMarcel Vervloesem, the Belgian activist who revealed the Zandvoort childporn ring case, was accused and locked up in prison again while he is very sick (heart surgeries, cancer surgery, diabetes
kidney dyalyse 3 x a week, cancer).
The Belgian Justice which is very strong related with the pedo-mafia, wants his death.
During the past 14 years, Belgian Justice and pedo-mafia used always the same system: a story in the press, false accusations, complaints, police, justice, media-campaign, persecution and sentenced without a real investigation, locked up in prison, isolated and tortured...
You can write him on this address: Gevangenis Turnhout (= Prison of Turnhout), t.v.a. Marcel Vervloesem, Cel 139, Wezenstraat 1, 2300 Turnhout (Belgium).
We need an international action !
Some days ago Marcel could't phone his daughter. Today the letters of his daughter and friends seem to be blocked.
We contact the Belgian Minister of Justice, Annemie Turtelboom, again who advocated an 'impartiality of the magistracy in judicial affairs''...

Hungerstrike for Brendan Lillis: Thursday, 21st July 2011

Brendan Lillis is currently a prisoner in Maghaberry Prison where he is serving a sentence for explosive offences in 1976. Brendan suffers from the condition ankylosing spondylitis and has been confined to bed for the best part of the past two years. Brendan Lillis is no threat to anybody, Brendan Lillis is dying and has been abandoned by an entire political system which is more interested in making statements about his condition than in applying their political power to remedy the situation.
We call for the immediate release of Brendan Lillis to his partner Roisin so that whatever time Brendan has left on this earth be spent with his immediate family. Brendan Lillis can not walk, he can not get up from his bed. He is incapacitated, and he is being left alone to die in a prison cell. We have seen enough of our people die in prison cells and find the manner in which Brendan is being treated as an obscenity.
A hunger strike in support of Brendan Lillis will commence this Thursday, 21st July at the site of the old Andersonstown Barracks. Roisin Lynch, partner of Brendan Lillis will be joined by old comrades of Brendan’s from the Blanket protest days and other former prisoners and concerned individuals. The action is designed to highlight Brendan’s case and the lack of any movement in securing his release from the politicians who know Brendan and knew him as a Blanketman.
Time is fast running out for Brendan Lillis and he should be released immediately. We call on all people concerned with this grave injustice to come along on Thursday, Friday or Saturday and register your support for a sick and dying man being held hostage by a vindictive and punitive regime. Ends.

A 3 day fast and camp out will take place at Free Derry corner from 10pm tomorrow, Thursday 21st July in conjunction and solidarity with the Belfast fast being undertaken by Roisin Lynch and friends. No party or organisational logos will be used and we hope this would appeal to all concerned with the wellbeing of Brendan Lillis to be able to partake. All welcome.

Prisons of shame in Northern Ireland: Brendan Lillis is dying

forddavid_justiceminister.jpgBrendan Lillis, a prisoner imprisoned in the Maghaberry prison of Northern Ireland, is dying. Minister of Justice David Ford does not seem worried about his situation. Pauline McCabe, Prisoner Ombudsman for Northern Ireland who investigates the many deaths in prisons, answered us that she 'cannot be helpful'...

Latest news about Brendan Lillis (8.7.2011)

People testify:

'I only get to see bl 2 hours a week. His arm is white and the rest of him is a bit red. He cant move his fingers and sleeps most of the time. I havnt seen any difference yet as i dont get to see him much. and the commissioners meeting is expected to last 8 hours 4 hours per day, 18th and 19th July. The 1st day is focusing on if brendan is or can become a danger to the public, both physically or mentally ie masterminding a crime... the 2nd day will focus on his health'

'He cant even roll a feg ni someone dose it for him plus they will have to give him more morphine for the pain of moveing hin, sh hell be high as a kite.'

'He is laying flat on his side, he said he was really hot on my last visit with him and the bed sheets were soaken with sweat . they have been trying to take blood but the vains keep collapsing not sure if they have got any yet. and they run out of the urine cardboard things he uses to pass water in . so he has to keep using the same 1 they rinse it at the sink in his cell. And the unit beside his bed is stinking. he trys to drink water but it comes back up. he sips tea through a straw.'

'Probably has to lie on his side because of his back pain. It probably hurts when he puts any pressure on the fused part.'

'Thats the way hes been laying for months, he cant get onto his back at all with the pain, thats why they took his tooth out in his cell bed its the only position he can just about tolerate. The slightest movement makes him cry out.'

'I am sitting here weeping for him. I feel so helpless as must you. His condition is critical, he needs to be transported straight to an intensive care unit. I have sent an e-mail to the DOJ in Belfast. I am letting them know my concerns and that the world is watching. I hope something works. I will not sleep until I know this man is getting proper care.'

'He could be going septic. Make sure they are checking his temp, BP and P frequently. The red flags would be increased temp decreased BP and fast but weak pulse. Are they checking his O2 sat levels? They need to give him a lot of water with the feeding or he will dehydrate even worse. They need to keep his head elevated in order to prevent aspiration of the feeding and causing pnuemonia. Are they checking any labs? OMG I wish I could be there.'

Libya: Peace proposals systematically rejected by NATO rebels

Peace Proposal:

Stop the bombing. Cease fire. Negotiations. Free elections taking into account Gaddafi's actual Elections Offer. The return of the Libyan money, blocked by the U.S. and European banks, to the Libyan State. The transfer of the money of the Libyan State that was intended for African projects, to the leaders of the African Union.
Russia has agreed to mediate in this conflict.

The so called 'Libyan rebels' wich are paid by the NATO, reject every peace proposal...

Human rights violations in Europe

Monday, 30 May 2011

The Prison Service has gone beyond the point of crisis after the deaths of three people in custody within a month, an expert has claimed.

Queen’s University professor Phil Scraton of the Action Prison reform group said the treatment of inmates with mental health issues was simply not good enough.

Lyn Edwards, the mother of one of the inmates who died earlier this month, said the system was failing in its duty of care towards her son. Aaron Hogg, 21, from North Belfast, was awaiting trial in Maghaberry Prison over attempted murder.

“The whole system let Aaron down,” she said.

She had written a letter just saying how vulnerable he was, that he was in their care and it was up to them to look after him, she told the BBC.

“There are a lot of people in there with mental health issues who are just put in there, locked up, forgotten about, and that’s it,” she added.

Professor Scraton said the Prison Service was not fit for purpose.

“I gave evidence to the prison review a few weeks back and I called it an institutionalised malaise,” he said.

“When something continues as long as the problems we have in our prisons have continued, it’s no longer a crisis, a crisis is something that comes to a head and you recover very quickly.”

Earlier this month, a man aged 19 and a woman aged 23 were found dead in their cells in Hydebank Young Offenders Centre.

Arbi Zarmaev: Amnesty International’s letter to Minister De Clerck

Nadezhda Banchik, member of Amnesty International USA, urges Stefaan De Clerck, Minister of Belgian Justice, to end the tortures inflicted to Commander Arbi Zarmaev and free him.

San Jose, April 20, 2011.

Respected Minister Stefaan De Clerck,

Being a member of Amnesty International USA, and in addition, being myself an emigrant from the former Soviet Union, I am completely devastated hearing about the plight of Mr. Arbi Zarmaev, a Chechen, an asylum seeker from Chechnya. I was entirely desperate learning that Mr. Zarmaev was arrested in Belgium and subjected to beating and torture via forcible deprivation of food and drinking water, shackling, and sleep deprivation. Information about torturing of any prisoner in Belgium, the EU member country, renown for its adherence to human rights and law obedience, make me think that our entire world is moving towards a new Holocaust, since the Holocaust was made possible when Western world completely rejected any protection for a human life at all and for a certain ethnic group in particular. That time such a group were Jews. This time, it seems to me, the Chechens are made an ethnic group for trade-off deals with criminal Russian regime.

I am afraid not only for a Chechen young man who is « guilty » only of defending his homeland from marauders, murders and robbers known to the whole world as Russian mafia state. it seems that Belgium authorities secretly decided to make Arbi Zarmaev slowly dying behind grates just for secret deal with Russian criminals! I am also afraid of your country’s reputation as reliable and law-obedient, human-rights protected country belonging to the Western civilization, that just recently was considered moral leader of the whole world. No more humane place in this world? No more Geneva Convention for a tiny group that was unlucky to be designed international scapegoat in the epoch of international « anti-terrorism » war?! But who is a bigger terrorist in this case? A Chechen who was forced to take arms to defend his home or the second army in the world that bombed out his homeland to rubbles?! Do you know that Russia killed more than 250,000 Chechens, including 40,000 children? And how many people did Arbi Zarmaev really killed? Ask him, please.

I urge you Mr. Minister, to do everything you can to stop this embarrassing  case for your country. I hope you can urge your subordinates to free Arbi Zarmaev because he is not a criminal. In the worst, he could be considered prisoner of the war. However, in this case he is eligible for Geneva Convention protection. Anyway, he is eligible for Geneva Convention protection as an asylum seeker from the armed conflict zone.

Sincerely and hopeful,

Nadezhda Banchik, Amnesty International USA member

What's the Royal Palace in Brussels thinking about the torture of Arbi Zarmaev ?

Today, we had planned with 30 Chechens an action for the liberation of Arbi who is still isolated in the most horrible circumstances, in the prison of Bruges.

When we arrived at the Royal Palace in Brussels, there were about 40 policemen in 3 special police cars who were waiting us.

It was the same police force (with also members of the secret police) as 14 days ago when we were coming together at the buildings of the European Parliament.

They forbidded us to spread leaflets and to make photos.

They repeated all the time that we ‘needed a permission for this manifestation’.

It is on this way that every news about Arbi is blocked by the Belgian authorities and the Belgian minister Stefaan De Clerck (christen-democratic party) who made a deal with the Russian government for Arbi’s transportation.

The association Pax Christi said on 8.4.2011 that the European Council (ERC) didn’t accept that Arbi should be detained in a Russian or Chechenen prison because there was a serious risk that he would be tortured and murdered as was the case with a lot of other Chechens.
The Belgian minister of Justice and the Belgian Council were relativating this risk all the time. But how can they relativate it if they could not even prevent that Arbi was tortured in the prisons of Hasselt and Bruges ? How can they relavate it while Arbi is totally isolated and treated with psychiatric drugs in a Belgian prison ?

We have contacted the european authorities but they want to cover up this case because they will prove that we are living in ‘free and democratic’ european countries (which tolerate torture practices in european prisons).

We contacted also the European Comitee Against Torture and the UN Comitee Against Torture but they didn’t reply while the Belgian State was regularely condamned for torture practices in its prisons.

Arbi’s family is very afraid. She thinks that Arbi will not leave alive the prison in Bruges. During almost 14 days the Belgian authorites are blocking every social contact of Arbi. 24 hours on 24 hours he is closed up and they are making him mad with psychiatric drugs.

The family will not stop their actions. New and better organized actions without infiltration of the Belgian secret police are already planned.

Arbi Zarmaev: Belgian Terror Against Chechen Human Rights Activist

Belgian Democratic Terror Against Chechen Human Rights Activist as a Response to his Engagement for the Rights of Chechen Political Prisoners

On April 7, 2011 in the afternoon in the Belgian capital Brussels "unknown perpetrators" broke the window of the car of human rights defender Imran Ezhiev. The car was parked near the U.S. Embassy. The criminals committed burglary. "Unidentified persons" stole a briefcase with important papers, including passports of the members of  Imran Ezhiev’s family, his driver's license, registration and insurance certificates for the car. Nobody took the expensive GPS navigator – this fact indicates it wasn’t an ordinary burglary. For a few days  Imran was followed and watched by some Russian-speaking people – there is no doubt they were agents of Russian secret services. Their actions were precise and coordinated – there are reasons to believe that they were able to eavesdrop on Imran Ezhiev’s telephone conversations. It could become possible only thanks to the coordination of their efforts with Belgian secret services.
The street, on which the car was parked, was under the observation of multiple video cameras. Simple thieves wouldn’t have dared to break the glass of a car in such a place. When Imran Ezhiev called the police, it refused to come to the crime scene, which again confirms the assumption that the Chechen human rights defender has become a victim of sabotage organized jointly by Russian and Belgian secret services. Belgian democrats and their Russian friends from Putin-Medvedev's  FSB were enraged by Imran Ezhiev’s active efforts to defend  the rights of Chechen refugee Arbi Zarmaev, incarcerated in Belgian democratic dungeons on false charges and currently being murdered by the democratic hangmen in the prison of Bruges. Imran Ezhiev has managed to pursue the Strasbourg Court to suspend Zarmaev’s extradition from Belgium to Russia. The extradition was suspended on April 5.
Arbi Zarmaev’s Belgian lawyer, to whom  the defendant's family has paid a large sum of money, is engaged in the unscrupulous sabotage. He tried to convince Imran Ezhiev, referring to a Belgian law from 1874 (!), that it was impossible to send an appeal to the Strasbourg Court. Imran Ezhiev invited to Belgium an Italian professor of psychiatry to examine Arbi Zarmaev. The lawyer exerted more effort than jailors to prevent the Italian professor from examining the tortured Zarmaev. Thanks to Imran Ezhiev’s  incredible perseverance the Italian professor finally was allowed to visit Zarmaev.
For a long time Arbi Zarmaev’s family members were prevented from visiting him. The prison administration claimed he allegedly "didn’t want to see anybody." On April 6th Imran Ezhiev managed to arrange Zarmaev’s meeting with his wife. What she saw was terrifying: her husband recognized her with difficulty, could not recognize his children. He was crawling on the floor with glazed eyes, was picking up some pills and all the time was muttering: "Fascist... Oh, Allah... Fascist ... Oh, Allah ..." His wife was shocked. Belgian democratic jailors turned her completely healthy husband  into a deranged animal. Probably they have caused irreversible changes in his mind. Arbi Zarmaev’s physical condition is as depressing as his mental one. For a long time his hands were handcuffed and his legs were shackled, which resulted in deep non-healing wounds. Zarmaev doesn’t have access to any medical care. His wounds are rotting, which can lead to gangrene.
Arbi Zarmaev’s relatives are so desperate that they want to ask to cancel the suspension of Arbi’s extradition to Russia. Their desperation is so great that they are already want  him to be extradited  to Russia in hope that in the Putin-Medvedev's concentration camp he will be treated somehow better than in the Belgian democratic prison.
I’d like to point out that Belgian politicians and human rights defenders, to whom Imran Ezhiev addressed his plea to help political prisoner Arbi Zarmaev, only made several phone calls to jailors and pretended to believe their assurances that Arbi Zarmaev’s situation was "improving." Even the Committee Against Torture of the Council of Europe didn’t want to help Arbi Zarmaev.
Belgian democrats have gotten mad at Imran Ezhiev probably also because he, in cooperation with MEPs Frieda Brepoels and Bart Staes, managed to secure the release of political prisoner Aslanbek Baysungurov – an invalid without legs, thrown into Belgian dungeons on absurd charges of "preparing terrorist attacks against the NATO facilities”. In addition, Imran Ezhiev has discovered that Belgian authorities hold in prisons on dim charges large numbers of foreigners – Armenians, Georgians, Uzbeks. Many of them have no idea why they were arrested. This reminds of Arbi Zarmaev’s story – he sat in jail for six months without an arrest warrant and without any charges.
